Full Time WAG Gymnastics Coach - Polarettes and Polar Tumblers Gymnastics Club (Yukon)

The Polarettes and Polar Tumblers Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit gymnastics club located in Whitehorse, Yukon. The club is Yukon's only gymnastics club and sees about 1000 users per week through birthday parties, drop ins, and registered programs. 

Our competitive and pre-competitive team has 46 athletes JO levels 1-9 and 5 aspire hopefuls ranging from ages 5 to 9. The program as been continually expanding and gymnastics is very supported by the community as a foundation for all sports. 

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, hard working individuals to join our team. We have two full-time competitive coaches leaving in the September 2018 to go to university, and are also currently looking for a full-time coach to start immediately to help us keep up with the growing demand for quality gymnastics classes in the North. 

Our club recognises and prioritises the importance of well educated coaches and offers a strong compensation package and many continuing education opportunities. 

Junior Olympic Compulsory Coach: 

  • Extensive knowledge of the Junior Olympic routines from JO 1 to 5 
  • Proven ability to produce quality gymnastics in these levels (Results/references are an asset) 
  • Strong technical understanding of gymnastics basics (handstand, shaping, etc..) 
  • Open to continuing education and learning 
  • Approx. 15-20 hours of competitive coaching, 5 hours of admin, 10+ hours of recreational coaching 
  • Full time or Part time opportunities available. 

Certifications: 

  • Minimum Competition 1 or NCCP Level 2 (Old Program) 
  • Respect in Sport 
  • Making Ethical Decisions
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED 

Junior Olympic Optional Coach: 

  • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Junior Olympic Code of Points
  • Ability to lesson plan and produce YTP programs
  • Proven ability to produce quality gymnastics in JO 6 - 9 (Results/references are an required) 
  • Knowledge of motor development and physical literacy 
  • Strong technical understanding of gymnastics basics (handstand, shaping, etc..) 
  • Open to continuing education and learning 
  • Approx. 20-30 hours of competitive coaching, 5+ hours of admin, 5+ hours of recreational coaching. 
  • We morning train Monday - Thursday, so you must be OK working split shifts and getting up bright and early :) 
  • This coach would also help develop our talented pre-competitive athletes and bring up the next generation. 
  • Minimum. 4 years of competitive coaching experience 
  • Start date is flexible. 

Certifications: 

  • Minimum Competition 1 or NCCP Level 2 (Old Program) 
  • Competition 2 or NCCP Level 3 is an asset
  • Trampoline 1
  • Respect in Sport
  • Making Ethical Decisions
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Must have actively coached in the last two years

Compensation packages will be in line with experience and qualifications.
