Position Title: Competitive Gymnastics Coach, Head Women’s and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics

Wage: for Full Time - Beginning at $71,073.00 based on experience. Includes annual vacation and benefit package



Skill Requirements:


-National Coaching Certificate Level 2 or Equivalent

-Current and up to date Standard First-Aid & CPR certification

-Making Ethical Decisions and Respect in Sport certificates

-Current Criminal Records Check


- preference given to those with 2-3 years competitive coaching experience

-Strong technical knowledge of artistic gymnastics

-Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within women’s competitive gymnastics


-Organized, reliable, with effective communication skills

-Detail oriented

-Approachable and solution oriented

-Strong problem-solving skills in a fluid environment

-Ability to work well individually and as part of a team

 Job Duties:

Will include but not limited to:


-Plan, develop and implement daily training sessions and yearly training plans for competitive provincial and national level gymnasts

-Develop and carry out team warm-up and physical preparation plans

-Develop training plans for individual athletes, including short and long-term goal setting

-Identify and develop gymnasts’ potential skills and abilities

-Analyze athletes’ strengths and weaknesses

-Prepare athletes physically and psychologically for competitive events

-Evaluate gymnasts’ performances and modify training plans as required

-Appropriately carry out and compose routines using the current Code of Points and appropriate Program Manuals

-Administration Duties associated with the competitive program




-work closely with Women’s and Men’s Coaches to grow the competitive program

-Provide technical mentorship as required to other coaches

-Participate in parent/coach meetings regularly 1-2 times per season; and otherwise communicate with parents on an as needed basis in a timely and professional manner

-Assist with organizing and executing additional training

-Work collaboratively with other coaches to plan special events

-Attend weekly directors meetings, and technical/planning meetings as required

-Assist in YKGC initiatives in the community including promotion of fundraising events and other community events in general; represent YKGC in a manner that enhances YKGC’s objectives and image

Location of Work: Yellowknife Gymnastics Club located in the Yellowknife Multiplex in Yellowknife, NT. Candidate may be required to work at and to occasionally attend meetings and events in other locations. For more information about Yellowknife please click the link below.
