MAG Retreat (Whistler)

Start: July 21, 2017
End: July 23, 2017

Location: Whistler, BC (exact location information will be given to confirmed participants)


  • Friday afternoon/evening: arrival of participants
  • Friday night: social gathering
  • Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.: meetings (with a lunch break)
  • Saturday evening: dinner (at participant's expense)
  • Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: meetings
  • Sunday afternoon: departure of participants

Cost: Participants will be responsible for their travel cost to Whistler and their meals.
GBC is renting two townhouses in the Athlete Center to accommodate retreat participants. Accommodation will be covered by GBC (there will be 10 beds for participants and lots of overflow floor space for additional people; please bring a sleeping bag in the event that you have to sleepon the floor).
Transportation to Whistler: We strongly encourage carpooling to Whistler in order to reduce transportation costs as well as your carbon footprint! Please notify John Carroll of your intended departure time from the Vancouver area, and hopefully we can decrease the number of cars needed to travel up the highway.
Registration: The GBC Men’s Technical Committee will be in attendance at the retreat. 
All other interested participants are invited to contact John Carroll at jcarroll@gymbc.org if you are eager to attend. The deadline to notify John is Monday, July 17.
Retreat Topics will include (but not limited to):

  • Review and progress of 2016 Retreat plans
  • Development of a GBC camp skill testing list
  • Developing an athlete monitoring system of skill development
  • Developing a consistent structure for GBC camps (including a team warm up)
  • Presentation on running effective meetings
  • Presentation on The Responsible Coaching Movement
  • Updates on Coaching Education, the FIG, Judges’ Education Program
  • Discussion on the FIG Age Group Development Program
