In qualifying at the Osijek Grand Prix in Croatia, BC's Scott Morgan (Flicka) placed 8th on floor exercise (14.650) to qualify for this weekend's finals. He also narrowly missed the finals on rings (9th, 14.550) and vault (9th, 15.500). His coach, Vali Stan, said he was pleased with results.

BC's Scott Morgan Set to Compete in Croatia

BC's Scott Morgan (Flicka) is one of five gymnasts representing Canada at the Osijek Grand Prix in Croatia this weekend. Morgan, who will compete on floor exercise, rings and vault, is joined by Hugh Smith on the men's side. Ellie Black, Mickaela Gerber and Christine Lee will represent Canada in the women's competition.

First World Championship Complete for Okanagan Duo

Adele Lefevre and Madison Arnold of the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre recently returned from their first world age group acrobatic gymnastics championships held this past weekend in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Lefevre and Arnold were part of Canada's 11 member team. While the team may not have returned home with medals, they can take pride in knowing they’ve played a large part in the development of a new discipline of gymnastics in Canada.

2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships Conclude in North Vancouver!

After three days, 650 athletes and 36 BC Champions, the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships concluded late this afternoon in North Vancouver. Gymnastics BC thanks all of the athletes, parents, families and friends for their support of gymnastics in BC. Gold and Bronze in Brazil for Brittany Rogers

In today's apparatus finals, Brittany Rogers (Flicka) won gold on the uneven bars and a bronze on vault. In the uneven bars final, Rogers scored 14.150 over Canada's Kristina Vaculik (13.950) and Korea's Seonmi Heo (13.500 ). In the very close vault final Ellie Black of Canada won the gold medal (13.988) edging Lais Souza of Brazil (13.963) and Rogers (13.838). Overall, Rogers is bringing home 4 medals from Sao Paulo - team gold, all around silver and the two event medals.

The third and final day of the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships is underway. 81 Level 1 boys took part in the opening session - a record number for that category while the women's provincial 3 team competition was extremely close.

A busy Day 2 at the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships is now complete. The men began their title quests today while the senior women's competition returned to the event.  National team member Scott Morgan (Flicka) wowed the crowd with an exhibition of his floor and vault routines and young Shallon Olsen (Omega) won her third straight BC title - the first as a Junior.

Team Canada 1st in Brazil | Brittany Rogers 2nd All Around

Team Canada won gold in Sao Paulo on Saturday over Brazil. The Canadians featuring BC's Brittany Rogers (Flicka) along with Kristina Vaculik, Ellie Black, Talia Chiarelli and Dominique Pegg scored 166.400 to easily best the host team who scored 162.150.

Gymnastics BC crowned three new BC champions this afternoon at the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships. In the Provincial 2 Novice competition, Juliette Wong (Richmond) won gold followed by Lauren Carr (Chimo) and her teammate Yuri Oda (Richmond).

First BC Champions Crowned

Gabriela Beselt (Okanagan) and Sage Bishop-Beaurone (Langley) were the first of many BC Champions to be crowned earlier today at the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Beselt topped the field in the Provincial 2 Argo category followed by Marisol Zeballos (Omega) and Riava Jensen (Phoenix) . Bishop-Beaurone won the Provincial 2 Tyro category with Emily Hale (Falco) winning silver and Claire Bent (Flicka) winning the bronze.
