Gymnastics BC mourns the passing of Aaron Johnson

It is with great sadness that Gymnastics BC notifies the gymnastics community of the passing of Aaron Johnson. A Gymnastics Canada and Gymnastics BC Life Member and husband of Shasta Trampoline Team head coach Valerie Johnson, Aaron passed away unexpectedly in hospital on Thursday, November 29.

Stuttgart World Cup: Canada's men eighth in team qualifying

At the 2012 Stuttgart World Cup, Canada's men's team finished eighth in team qualifying earlier today. The top four teams (Japan, Brazil, Great Britain and Russia) move onto tomorrow's finals.

Omega's Shallon Olsen golden at Top Gym meet in Belgium

It was a golden weekend for 12-year-old gymnasts Shallon Olsen (Omega) and Rose-Kalam Woo (Montreal) at the Top Gym junior international meet.

Olsen, the 2012 Canadian junior champion, came away with gold medals in the all around and vault events while Woo was runner-up in the all around and first in the uneven bars final.

Flicka's Taylor Ricci signs with Oregon State

Flicka gymnast Taylor Ricci will spend the next four years competing for the Oregon State Beavers. Ricci signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday and joins a strong gymnastics program. Former Flicka teammate Laura-Ann Chong is an alumnus of Oregon State.

French gold for BC's Taylor Chan

TAG Sport Centre's Taylor Chan won gold this weekend at the at the 16th annual international tournament of Combs-la-Ville in France. Chan scored a 4.40 difficulty and a 9.10 in execution. Her club teammate, Nicole Chow, was fifth in the event final.

Sport BC has announced that former Gymnastics BC technical director Gord Hopper is one of eight Vancouver sport heroes. The Community Sport Hero Awards presented by Teck honours outstanding sport volunteers in communities across British Columbia.

BC's Hardy Fink wins prestigious award

Gymnastics BC Life Member Hardy Fink was awarded the Nik Stuart Foundation International Diploma of Honour this year. Absent from the annual dinner and presentation night in Great Britain this past September due to family engagements, Fink received the award at the recent 79th FIG Congress in Cancun.
