Gymnastics Canada hires Director Communications and Marketing


Gymnastics Canada has annouced that Julie Forget will join the GCG team as the Director of Communications and Marketing, effective April 20. Julie is a sport communications specialist who has worked in the Canadian Sport System for over 15 years.

Medals for Canada at Jesolo Trophy including vault silver for Olsen


Team Canada came away with five medals on the final day of competition Sunday at the Jesolo Trophy. This added to the bronze won by the senior team and silver that the juniors won earlier.

B.C.'s Shallon Olson (Omega) came up with the best Canadian result of the day, winning silver on vault in the junior competition with a score of 14.550.

Ethics in coaching

Many of you have taken the required Making Ethical Decisions course and evaluation. It’s a great program and a place to start, if you haven’t already, reflecting on your own coaching and interactions with those in your life.

Ethics also affects self –esteem and the critical role that behaving ethically has in the development and maintenance of healthy self-esteem.

In Memoriam: Liz Carter

It is with great sadness that Gymnastics BC shares the news of the passing of Liz Carter. A Gymnastics BC Life Member and founder of Twisters Gymnastics, Liz passed away on Wednesday, March 18 after a battle with cancer.

Listening versus hearing

Anyone with teenagers understands the difference between listening and hearing. How many parents have reminded their teens to empty the dishwasher or what time they’re leaving for gymnastics?

And how many times has the dishwasher stayed full and the teens late for gym? Why? Because the teen “didn’t hear you”.

Canadians strike gold at Gymnix Junior Cup

Canadian gymnasts won the gold medal in the team competition on Saturday at the Junior International Cup, finishing well ahead of runnerup Russia and third-ranked Italy at the 2015 Gymnix International meet.

Sandra Comeault to be honoured at Sport BC’s 49th Annual Awards Banquet


GBC volunteer Sandra Comeault will be honoured by Sport BC at their annual 2015 Athlete of the Year Awards on Thursday, March 12. Comeault is Gymnastics BC's 2014 Presdient's Award receipient.

Artistic Gymnastics World Championships coming to Montreal in 2017

It’s official. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has confirmed Montreal as the host of the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. 

Following a successful site inspection by FIG officials in February, the FIG Executive Committee has confirmed Gymnastics Canada, in partnership with the Quebec Gymnastics Federation, and Montreal as the host of the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2017.
