2015 BC Gymnaestrada set to kick off in Surrey

 

Over 500 recreational gymnasts and coaches will kick up their spurs this weekend in Surrey at the 2015 BC Gymnaestrada. Taking place May 30 to 31 at the Cloverdale Agriplex, the event is co-hosted by Gymnastics BC and Splitz Gymnastics Centres. The 23 clubs taking part represent Gymnastics BC clubs throughout B.C., Special Olympics and rhythmic gymnastics.

Gymnastics ~ A girl sport?

At Vancouver’s Baby and Family Fair, Gymnastics BC hosted a Try Gymnastics Zone. All kids were welcome to try some beginner gymnastics.  

Throughout the weekend, the Gymnastics BC staff overheard dads (AND moms) say that since their children were boys, they didn’t need any gymnastics info. At the same time, their boys were having lots of fun trying gymnastics!

2015 BC Gymnaestrada May 30-31 at Cloverdale Fairgrounds

Surrey will be the host for the largest annual provincial recreational gymnastics event, the BC Gymnaestrada, in 2015. Co-hosted by Gymnastics BC and Splitz Gymnastics Centres, the May 30 to 31 event will host more than 400 recreational gymnasts from around the province.

Yesterday morning, Sammy the PLAY Gymnastics mascot and many Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics parents and athletes woke up early to show off recreational gymnastics on Breakfast Television!

Host Dawn Chubai, was live at the gym for the morning and talked to parents, athletes and coaches about the benefits of gymnastics in the development of children. She even jumped into the pit and tried gymnastics!
