Six B.C. athletes will represent Canada at the upcoming world championships in Odense, Denmark from November 26 to 29. Competition at the 2015 Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Gatineau, Alberta wrapped up over the weekend. Team BC won 20 medals during the event with 8 of them gold!

Darren Wong (Vancouver Phoenix) won the novice men's title and then added five apparatus medals, two of them gold. Other multiple medalists were Chris Kaji (Richmond) with three junior men's medals, Ashlynn Skulstad (Twisters) and Angel Zhong (Langley) who each won two national open medals.

Trampoline Gymnastics BC Championships conclude in Port Moody

The inaugural Team BC trampoline gymnastics team: Curt DeWolff, Jamie Gardner, Kyle Carragher, Poppy Quinlan, Emily Schmidt. Missing: Curtis Gerein

Over 200 gymnasts from 14 clubs across the province competed at the 2015 Trampoline Gymnastics BC Championships in Port Moody May 15-17. Hosted by TAG, the Port Moody Recreation Complex saw non-stop action with trampoline, synchronized trampoline, double mini and tumbling going all weekend. In all over 50 champions were crowned.

Nica de Guzman (Delta) and Linnea Ganstal (Kamloops) are the newest 2015 Gymnastics BC champions.

De Guzman won a very close JO 6 (2003) competition by a mere 0.100 points over Bridget McLean (Balance) and 0.450 points ahead of Alicia Liu (Club Aviva). She also won silver on beam and bronze on vault.

Artistic Gymnastics World Championships coming to Montreal in 2017

It’s official. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has confirmed Montreal as the host of the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. 

Following a successful site inspection by FIG officials in February, the FIG Executive Committee has confirmed Gymnastics Canada, in partnership with the Quebec Gymnastics Federation, and Montreal as the host of the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2017.

Aaron Mah top B.C. all arounder at CWG

Ontario continued its winning ways as Justin Karstadt won the men's all around final at the Canada Winter Games on Wednesday. Félix Dolci and Matthew Halickman, both from Quebec, won the silver and bronze medals.

B.C.'s top gymnast was Aaron Mah (Phoenix) who finished fourth. Mah, at his second Canada Winter Games, placed first on floor and high bar as he scored 79.450.

Team B.C. won its second bronze medal on Monday at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.

Canada’s bid to host the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal has been provisionally accepted at an executive committee meeting of the international gymnastics federation (FIG) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

WAGC: B.C. gymnasts win six medals!

The World Age Group Competitions wound up this weekend in Sofia, Bulgaria with B.C. gymnasts winning six medals.

Tamara O’Brien (TAG) won a gold medal in the girl's 17-18 tumbling event on Saturday.  O’Brien scored 31.3 points to finish first in a tie with Heather Cowell of Great Britain with both competitors awarded a gold medal. Silke Vermeulen of Belgium placed third with 31.0 points.

Russia dominates men's team event at FISU Games, Joshua Stuart and Canadians 17th

Russia dominated the men’s gymnastics team event at the World University Games on Monday while Canada placed 17th in a field of 24 countries.

The Russian squad, led by Olympians Denis Ablyazin and Emin Garibov, won the gold with a score of 273.150 points, followed by the Ukraine with 269.950 and Japan at 269.700.

Ninety-nine B.C. artistic and trampoline gymnasts have qualified for the 2013 Canadian Gymnastics Championships. Team BC will compete at the championships in Ottawa from May 21-25. The athletes were named to the team following a series of trials held this winter and spring.

Omega's Shallon Olsen golden at Top Gym meet in Belgium

It was a golden weekend for 12-year-old gymnasts Shallon Olsen (Omega) and Rose-Kalam Woo (Montreal) at the Top Gym junior international meet.

Olsen, the 2012 Canadian junior champion, came away with gold medals in the all around and vault events while Woo was runner-up in the all around and first in the uneven bars final.

French gold for BC's Taylor Chan

TAG Sport Centre's Taylor Chan won gold this weekend at the at the 16th annual international tournament of Combs-la-Ville in France. Chan scored a 4.40 difficulty and a 9.10 in execution. Her club teammate, Nicole Chow, was fifth in the event final.

Day one of the 2012 Canadian Championships is complete following the conclusion of the women's artistic Junior and Senior qualifying competitions.

Shallon Olsen (Omega) leads the junior women into the finals scoring 55.650 ahead of Rose-Kalam Woo (Quebec) and Aleeza Yu (Ontario). Olsen had competition best scores on vault (15.900) and floor (14.050). First World Championship Complete for Okanagan Duo

Gold and Bronze in Brazil for Brittany Rogers

In today's apparatus finals, Brittany Rogers (Flicka) won gold on the uneven bars and a bronze on vault. In the uneven bars final, Rogers scored 14.150 over Canada's Kristina Vaculik (13.950) and Korea's Seonmi Heo (13.500 ). In the very close vault final Ellie Black of Canada won the gold medal (13.988) edging Lais Souza of Brazil (13.963) and Rogers (13.838). Overall, Rogers is bringing home 4 medals from Sao Paulo - team gold, all around silver and the two event medals.

First BC Champions Crowned

Gabriela Beselt (Okanagan) and Sage Bishop-Beaurone (Langley) were the first of many BC Champions to be crowned earlier today at the 2012 BC Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Beselt topped the field in the Provincial 2 Argo category followed by Marisol Zeballos (Omega) and Riava Jensen (Phoenix) . Another Olympic spot secured for Canada | Canadians compete in apparatus finals
