The BC Games Coach Mentorship Program

The Coach Mentorship program for the Kamloops 2018 BC Winter Games is open and available for applications. 

The BC Games Coach Mentorship Program is a partnership between viaSport and the BC Games Society.  It is designed to assist coaches in enhancing and developing of their coaching skills in pursuit of coaching certification.

  • Application process is now open for 2018 BC Winter Games sports – deadline is June 18

A few key messages about the program:

  • Applications are submitted by PSOs* 
  • The program is self-directed with the mentor and apprentice developing their own way of working together 
  • The program is open to male and female apprentices and male and female mentors 
  • Twenty apprentice-mentor pairings are available for each of the 2018 BC Winter and BC Summer Games.  The program is flexible allowing mentors to support more than one apprentice.
  • A commitment from the mentors and apprentices to complete the goal setting workbook by set deadlines, dedicate approximately 6-10 hours before attending the BC Games (which can include establishing the mentor-apprentice relationship, goal setting, practice/training times, etc.) and attending the two assigned Professional Development opportunities.
