BC Winter Games

Artistic gymnastics is part of the BC Winter Games, which along with the BC Summer Games are B.C.’s premier multisport event. The Games focus on the development of athletes, coaches, officials, and communities.

The BC Games have inspired thousands of British Columbians to realize and demonstrate their potential.

Qualification

All athletes must qualify through zone trials to represent their region at the BC Winter Games. Each GBC zone hosts trials in early winter prior to the Games.

Each zone team is comprised of:

3 WAG athletes - CPP 3 rules / Category 1
3 WAG athletes - CPP 4 rules / Category 2
4 MAG athletes - Level 3 rules

An additional eight WAG and eight MAG athletes may qualify as wildcards.

Each team is accompanied by coaches and managers:

1 coach/manager - WAG CPP 3 / Category 1
1 coach/manager - WAG CPP 4 / Category 2
1 coach/manager - MAG

All coaches and athletes must be registered with Gymnastics BC.

Athletes may compete at the zone trials and at the BC Winter Games without affecting their category for the remainder of the year.

At the zone trials, athlete must compete in the category they want to qualify for BC Games.

All coaches must be NCCP Level 2.

Residency

For the BC Games, athletes represent the zone where they live (not where the club is). For example, an athlete living in Surrey but training at a club in Delta, will represent Zone 3 (Surrey) not Zone 4 (Delta).
