WAG Program Leader (Head Coach)

The WAG Program Leader should be an innovative leader, mentor and coach with a demonstrated ability to develop Provincial, National and International level women’s artistic gymnastics athletes. The WAG Program Leader is a member of our Senior Leader team and is responsible for the continued growth of the women’s artistic gymnastics program including helping us lead the Society into its new phase of growth and opportunity.

Kamloops Gymnastics | Trampoline Centre is a not-for-profit athletic facility that inspires enthusiasm for and lifelong involvement in gymnastics and trampoline by providing positive and diverse programming. With an exemplary record of over 39 years of service to the athlete community, KGTC has a well-equipped 15,000 square foot facility and is part of a multi-sport Tournament Capital Centre that neighbours Thompson Rivers University (TRU).

Kamloops is the third largest city in B.C. outside of Vancouver. The city offers a relaxed lifestyle with a warm climate and over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. The unique mix of desert plateaus, lush river valleys, pine forests, lake and snow-capped mountains provide unlimited opportunities for recreational pursuits.



The successful incumbent should contribute to the development of program content to ensure a high quality and successful program for both coaches and athletes, with a focus on competitive, in-talent and transitions from developmental to competitive and/or other programs. Have the ability to work with athletes of all ages to lead them to success. Be professional, organized, interpersonal and a dedicated Leader.

In collaboration with the General Manager promote coach knowledge and development opportunities and workshops for continued development, initiate weekly coach meetings and workshops for all program employees to develop collaboration and teamwork and review and assess programs and ideas. Develop and maintain a strong, open and respectful working relationship with the athletes, parents, volunteers and employees at KGTC and carry the responsibility for the execution of operational and program policies/procedures and assist in the development of these as required.



Responsibilities include the management of the following areas of the WAG Program: Organizational Program Administration, Program Operations/Personnel, Organizational Structure and Procedures, Volunteer Individual Management, Communications, Mentor for Coach Knowledge and Leadership, Special Events and Risk Management.

Coaching responsibilities include: Planning and Preparation, Assessment and Development, Motivate and Lead, Creating Class Environment, Coaching, Delivery and Professional Responsibilities.

Duties include representing and participating in Kamloops Gymnastics | Trampoline Centre activities, events, training sessions and other activities. Interact with all internal and external stakeholders with a professional and authentic demeanour.



Essential Requirements

  • NCCP Level 3 or higher/equivalent, Making Ethical Decisions, Respect in Sport, Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Ability to meet NCCP level certifications and requirements required by GBC and GCG
  • Superior proven relationship building and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative in programming
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and activities
  • Ability to work flexible hours and evening/weekend when required
  • Must be able to bear weight as required to spot or support athletes of all ages and abilities
  • Must be able to be physically active including (but not limited to) movements such as: rotation, squatting, lifting, holding and others as required
  • Excellent understanding and demonstration of class management and behavior management

Preferred Requirements

  • Kinesiology or similar education background
  • Sport Management or similar education background
  • Conflict management skills
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position

Technical Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable email program
  • Must be comfortable learning how to work on other software products
