Parkour Coach - Elk Valley Gymnastics

Elk Valley Gymnastics located in Fernie, BC is looking for a motivated, upbeat and energetic coach to join our team. Parkour is a popular program focused on freestyle movement through obstacle courses. 

Job Description

  • Greet parents and gymnasts in a friendly manner
    Create an engaging, safe, fun environment for gymnasts with encouragement and smiles
  • Coach participants of varying ages and skill levels in Parkour, 4-5 yrs , 6-7 yrs 8+ and Adv Parkour  
  • Be actively engaged and coaching participants the full duration of each class
  • Evaluate and assess individual participant learning styles and apply techniques to reach participants with all different learning styles.
  • Collaborate with other coaches, parents, and supervisor to address individual participant issues or areas of concern
  • Teach and test skills within the level appropriate to each age and skill level
  • Ensure compliance with organization policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Generate excitement about participation in gymnastics activities.
  • Act as a positive role model
  • Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and positive learning environment at all times
  • Utilize suggestions and constructive criticism to improve teaching skills
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and special events as assigned
  • Participate in recommended training programs
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties
  • Work with other coaches and CIT’s in the gym as a team
  • Set up and clean up of equipment
  • Keep up with new skills and drills appropriate for each age group
  • 1 hour of gym cleaning a week

There is a Parkour Certification course coming up, if you are interested in taking the course we will cover 50% of the course upon signing of a contract. 

Reporting to Club Manager

Hours of work between 4-7 hours per week of work depending on registration and certification level. Hours are based on 3 sessions Sept – June and weekly Summer, Winter and Spring break Camps.

Wage based on Certification Levels, First Aid, Criminal Record Check and completion of Making Ethical Decisions and Respect in Sport and experience.
