The Fundamentals Coordinator / Active Start Coordinator is a key member of our leadership team responsible for the continued growth of the Society including helping to lead us into the new phase of growth and opportunity for the 2018-2019 season.

Kamloops Gymnastics | Trampoline Centre is looking for a dynamic, creative and innovative leader that is willing to think outside the box and bring forth new ideas on how to promote our mission and programs, to lead and deliver our many programs and to be the daytime liaison for KGTC; working with members of the Kamloops community, the membership and the staff. You should be a team player with a demonstrated ability to develop appropriate age-stage lessons to engage learning in the active start and youth years. The successful incumbent should be professional, organized, interpersonal and a dedicated coach with a solid knowledge in physical literacy to ensure the safety of all program participants. In collaboration with the General Manager and Senior Leads, the Fundamentals Coordinator / Active Start Coordinator is responsible for setting direction, goals and staff training for delivery of successful programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the management of the following areas: Operations, Programming, Special Events, Risk Management, Communications, Human Resources and Financial Management.

Coaching responsibilities include: Planning and Preparation, Creating Class Environment, Coaching and Delivery and Professional Responsibilities.

Essential Requirements:

  • NCCP Level 1 Artistic and Active Start, Making Ethical Decisions, Respect in Sport, Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Passionate about physical literacy and an active and healthy lifestyle
  • Superior proven relationship building and communication skills; comfortable speaking, emailing and phoning parents, children, coaches and coordinators
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative in programming
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and activities
  • Ability to work flexible hours and evening/weekends when required
  • Must be able to bear weight and be physically active
  • Excellent understanding and demonstration of class managment and behaviour management
  • Ability to motivate and lead a staff team toward program and personal goals
  • Able to maintain a safe instructional environment, which includes setting-up and inspecting equipment and bringing forth and making right any health or safety concerns.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience coaching in a diversity of gymnastics programs
  • Experience budgeting
  • Recreation Management or similar education background
  • Conflict managment skills
  • Minimum 3 years coach-leader experience in a similar position

Technical Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or comparable email program
  • Must be comfortable learning how to work on other software products
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing


This full-time position, which combines administrative and coaching duties, offers competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.
