The Okanagan Gymnastics Centre (OGC) is a not-for-profit organization located in beautiful Kelowna, BC in the heart of the Okanagan Valley. With 42 years of serving the community, and over 2,200 athletes, OGC is recognized as one of the leading competitive gymnastic centres in BC.  


We are looking for a dynamic Operations Director with proven leadership and communication skills to work collaboratively with our coaching team to build strong programming in to the future.


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the operations and day to day management including finances, administrative tasks, facility management and ensures that all OGC programs, projects and other sponsorship and fundraising initiatives are running smoothly and efficiently.  This will be accomplished by contributing a high level of organizational and leadership skills while also being committed to customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for ensuring the organization runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversees member inquiries, questions, feedback and concerns.
  • Partners with the coaching teams to develop revenue growth opportunities.
  • Develops, implements and enforces approved Policies & Procedures as well as Policies set forth by governing organizations.
  • Maintains employment contracts, performs formal personnel evaluation, including adherence to current vacation allowances, benefits continuing education requirements.
  • Creates a work environment that supports a climate of mutual respect, open communications, team work, collaboration, shared learning and innovation. 
  • Coordinates activities to leverage existing volunteer resources to achieve club goals.
  • Involved in all aspects of financial reporting systems, payroll, accounts receivables and payables. 
  • Works collaboratively with the bookkeeper to maintain proper internal accounting.
  • Prepares annual budgets, maintains cash-flow forecast and prepares other analyses as needed to ensure the overall financial health of the organization and to support management decision-making practices.
  • Responsible for searching out and applying for grants, sponsors and community partners. 
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the organization and seeks out promotional opportunities and events.


  • Post-secondary education in Business or Sport Management or a related program.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressive leadership experience preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current First Aid Certification & Vulnerable Sector check.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Desired Skills:

  • Approachable, with proven customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to exercise accuracy, confidentiality, tact, and discretion while maintaining integrity of all communication.
  • Familiar with labour laws, as well as best HR practices to support the staff in optimizing performance.
  • Demonstrated track record in the areas of program development, staff supervision, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively introduce and support purposeful change.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot and find alternatives, make suggestions and act quickly.
  • Able to create a cohesive and inclusive atmosphere for employees.
  • Is passionate about working with youth.
  • Knowledge of Studio Director (registration software) preferred but not necessary.
