Head Coach, Recreation & Interclub


This position is responsible for creating exciting recreational programs that develop skills, health, and confidence in children, adults, and seniors.  This role will require a combination of coaching, administrative duties, as well as mentorship/training of recreation and interclub coaches.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create program schedules and coach schedules for the Recreation department.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and monitor the performance of all Recreation/Interclub coaches.
  • Assist Recreation/Interclub coaches in the development of lesson plans.
  • Develop new program ideas and plans; monitor program progress and quality.
  • As necessary, provide emergency cover for shifts within the Recreation department.
  • Develop new program ideas and plans.
  • Assist with the organization of club events (Ogopogo, Cobweb, etc).
  • Work towards common goals with administration.
  • Sets an example of professionalism, enthusiasm, and positivity within the organization.
  • Address behaviour issues of Recreation participants with parents.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of NCC Level 2.
  • Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Respect in Sport.
  • Making Ethical Decisions.
  • Excellent organization, communication, leadership, and people skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with all coaches and administration.
  • Creativity and a passion for gymnastics and program building.
  • Dependable, professional, positive team player.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.
