Alanna Jones Thanks Gymnastics Community

Just one year ago, Alanna Jones, longtime member of Surrey Gymnastic Society, suffered a severe spinal cord injury that changed her life. The outpouring of support from the BC gymnastics community has been incredible; in the following letter, Alanna extends her sincere gratitude to the people who have helped her on her road to recovery:

Dear gymnastics community,

I wanted to send a thank you to all who have supported me during this difficult time in my life. It is amazing to see how giving and caring people can be. I appreciate all the donations from individuals as well as the gym clubs who organized fundraisers. It has helped me to do some renovations and to pay for part of my wheelchair accessible van. Any extra money is going towards my different therapies which can cost upwards of $100 an hour. I am starting to feel my body more, and starting to get arm movement when I'm in the pool! I'm not going to stop there. I'm determined to keep fighting. It's a beautiful feeling to know that so many people are rooting for me. I'm so lucky to be part of the gymnastics world. I may not be at the gym everyday anymore but it still feels like home. Thank you so much for all the support and the kind words.
