Gymnastics Canada announces new program director - artistic gymnastics

Gymnastics Canada (GCG) is pleased to announce that Mr. Karl Balisch will be joining the GCG management team as the Program Director – Artistic Gymnastics.

Balisch has worked in a management capacity at all levels of the sport of gymnastics, including 5 years with Gymnastics Canada as the Program Director – Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (2000 -2005). Through his work experience, he has been exposed to the municipal, provincial, national and international sport communities and governing bodies. Balisch brings extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the sport, passion and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

2013 World Trampoline & Tumbling Championships on CBC

Don’t miss the CBC National broadcast of the 2013 World Trampoline & Tumbling Championships: Saturday November 23, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. (PST) on the CBC network.

WAGC: B.C. gymnasts win six medals!

The World Age Group Competitions wound up this weekend in Sofia, Bulgaria with B.C. gymnasts winning six medals.

Tamara O’Brien (TAG) won a gold medal in the girl's 17-18 tumbling event on Saturday.  O’Brien scored 31.3 points to finish first in a tie with Heather Cowell of Great Britain with both competitors awarded a gold medal. Silke Vermeulen of Belgium placed third with 31.0 points.

Eight B.C. trampoline gymnasts at World Age Group Competitions

Eight B.C. gymnasts will join 800 compeitors from 47 countries at the 22nd World Age Group Competitions (WAGC). The WAGC features competitions in trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline begin at the Armeec Arena, in Sofia, Bulgaria from November 14-17.

Samantha Smith and Tamara O'Brien win world silver medals

Canada won four medals at the 2013 World Trampoline Championships in Bulgaria including gold for Rosie MacLennan on trampoline. Two B.C. gymnasts helped Canada win team silver medals in trampoline and double mini trampoline.

Canadian women qualify for trampoline finals

Shaking off the effects of a crash landing about a week ago in training, Olympic champion Rosie MacLennan of Toronto led Canada to the women’s team final in Thursday’s qualification round at the world trampoline and tumbling championships.

PacificSport Concussion Workshop - November 14

 

PacificSport Fraser Valley, in partnership with SportMed BC, is hosting a Concussion Management Workshop on November 14 at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The concussion management workshop is led by a certified sports medicine professional and shares the latest news and protocols on preventing, identifying and managing concussions. This is a workshop no parent, coach, athlete or recreation worker should miss out on!
