B.C. gymnasts win 19 medals at Elite Canada

Robert Watson competing on parallel bars at Elite CanadaB.C. athletes returned home this weekend from Elite Canada in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec with 19 medals including six gold. 

Robert Watson (Twisters) won the senior men's all around title edging edged Rene Cournoyer of Repentigny Quebec. In the apparatus finals he added a silver on the horizontal bar. 

Also reaching the all around podium was Omega's Ilka Juk who finished third in the novice women's competition. She also won the gold on vault.

New senior Shallon Olsen (Omega) was sixth in the all around competition before winning the vault final and taking bronze in the floor exercise final.

Novice men

  • Darren Wong (Vancouver Phoenix): 2nd floor exercise, 2nd parallel bars, 1st horizontal bar (tie)

Junior men

  • Chris Kaji (Richmond): 3rd floor exercise, 3rd rings

Senior men

  • Ken Ikeda (Twisters): 2nd pommel horse
  • Zachary Clay (Twisters): 1st pommel horse
  • Robert Watson (Twisters): 1st all-around, 2nd horizontal bar
  • Scott Morgan (Flicka): 2nd vault, 1st rings
  • Scott Nabata (Kamloops): 3rd pommel horse, 3rd parallel bars
  • Aaron Mah (Vancouver Phoenix): 3rd horizonal bar

Novice women

  • Ilka Juk (Omega): 3rd all around, 1st vault

Junior women

  • Haley de Jong (Flicka): 2nd floor excerise 

Senior women

  • Shallon Olsen (Omega): 1st vault, 3rd floor exercise (tie)
