Best Ever Fifth Place Finish for Team Canada at Olympics

Earlier today, the Canadian women's gymnastics team put their names in the history book with a 5th place finish in the team final! B.C.'s Brittany Rogers (Flicka), Ellie Black (NS), Victoria Moors (ON), Dominique Pegg (ON) and Kristina Vaculik (ON) scored a total of 170.804 to edge Great Britain, Italy and Japan.

The United States dominated the competition scoring 183.596 to beat Russia (178.530) and Romania (176.414). China finished in 4th (174.430).

Canada had the third best team score on floor exercise led by Moors (14.600, 8th). Rogers was once again the top Canadian on uneven bars scoring 14.466 and 14.866 on vault  to rank 12th on both apparatus.  Black was ranked 6th on vault (15.233) and was also the top Canadian on beam with 14.266 (13th).

Competition continues for the Canadians on Thursday (August 2) as Pegg competes in the All Around Final and on Sunday as Rogers and and Black take part in the vault finals.
