Olsen Leads Team Canada at L'International Gymnix

Shallon Olsen of Omega Gymnastics soared to gold on vault in the Senior Cup Finals at L’International Gymnix in Montreal. The Coquitlam native finished with a score of 14.125 points, ahead of Nina Derwai of Belgium with 13.975 points.  Olson was one of two Canadians to win gold at the competition, the other being Meixi Semple of Whitby, Ontario. In the floor finals, Olsen took home a bronze medal with a score of 13.975, behind fellow Canadian Isabela Onyshko, who finished with 14.250 points.

In the Junior Cup, team Canada took home a bronze medal with a final score of 162.125 points. The Canadian squad—which included Haley de Jong of Flicka Gymnastics—finished third with a strong performance on uneven bars, but struggled with floor and beam.

Ilka Juk of Omega Gymnastics tied for second on vault with Shannon Archer of Glasgow in the Challenge Finals with 13.366 points.

In La Classique Gymnix—which invites athletes in JO Levels 6-10, the Canadian Aspire Program 1 and 2 and the Canadian Novice Program—the athletes from TAG performed exceptionally well. In Aspire 1, Hannah Buchmann (TAG) placed 2nd AA with a score of 36.075; In Aspire 2, Sydney Turner (TAG) placed 1st AA with 34.800 points; and in JO 10, Taylor Chan (TAG) placed 1st AA with 35.575 points.
