For Immediate Release

RICHMOND, BC — Gymnastics BC (GymBC) is proud to announce the 2026 BC Gymnaestrada, taking place May 1–3, 2026, at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Co-hosted in partnership with Delta Gymnastics Society, this vibrant, three-day event will bring together more than 450 participants from across the province in a celebration of movement, creativity, and community.

As the largest recreational gymnastics event in British Columbia, BC Gymnaestrada is a celebration of Gymnastics for All; rooted in participation, inclusivity, and performance without the pressure of competition. The event features workshops, group performances, and adjudicated opportunities for participants of all ages and abilities, showcasing the creativity, collaboration, and joy of movement in a welcoming and non-competitive environment.

This year’s theme, World in Motion, emphasizes movement as a universal language that transcends cultures, disciplines, and generations. It reflects a world that is constantly evolving — artistically, technologically, and socially — and highlights how gymnastics embodies that forward momentum. The theme also celebrates the 40th anniversary of Expo 86, honouring the legacy of global connection and cultural exchange that helped shape the province.

The event also marks the kickoff of GymBC’s inaugural GFA Month. A province-wide, month-long celebration recognizing the 40th anniversary of GymBC’s Gymnastics for All Committee (GFAC). The celebration begins with a Welcome Social on Friday, May 1, from 6:00–8:00 PM on the performance floor at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Participants and attendees are invited to connect with the community, take part in Gymnaestrada flash mob choreography, and join in a special cake cutting and remarks to celebrate this milestone.

“Gymnaestrada is one of the most unique and inspiring events on our calendar,” said Jennifer Keith, GymBC CEO. “It’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the joy of movement. We are proud to bring together participants from across BC to share in this experience, and we are grateful to Delta Gymnastics Society for their partnership in making it all possible.”

Beyond the event itself, BC Gymnaestrada serves as a stepping stone toward national and international opportunities, including Canadian Gymnaestrada taking place June 30 – July 4, 2026, in Regina, SK, and the 2027 World Gymnaestrada in Lisbon, Portugal.

Advance tickets for BC Gymnaestrada are now sold out. A very limited number of tickets will be available at the door on Sunday, May 3 for the Performance Showcases at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Availability is not guaranteed. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance. Can't attend in person? Watch live from wherever you are.
