2025 Anti-Racism Week
May 26, 2025
May 26 - June 1, 2025 is recognized as Anti-Racism Awareness Week in British Columbia. This is an opportunity to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward equity and inclusion in our lives, our communities, and in gymnastics.
While systemic change is critical, anti-racism also begins at a personal level. Each of us has the power to challenge bias, foster belonging, and build more inclusive environments through everyday actions.
Here are a few personal ways you can take action this week, and and beyond:
Personal Actions You Can Take:
-
Reflect on whose voices and stories you regularly hear, and whose you don’t.
-
Learn something new: watch a documentary, read a book, or explore anti-racism resources.
-
Start a conversation with a friend, teammate, or family member about race, equity, and inclusion.
-
Interrupt racism when you witness it, whether it's in person, on social media, or in group settings.
-
Challenge your own biases with humility and curiosity.
-
Support racialized creators, businesses, and educators.
-
Share resources to help your network stay informed and engaged.
Anti-racism is not a one-time action; it’s an ongoing practice. Small steps, taken consistently, can lead to powerful change.
